Keep at it...

Having had a brief internal paddy today about how I have no time to cram as many things into a day that I want, and how I've over-packed my metaphorical suitcase with far too many tasks and goals, I've finally calmed down a bit.

I visited another blog last night http://chscarlett.wordpress.com/2010/08/07/a-touching-farewell which I like very much and the author wrote of how writers in particular have a tendency to spread themselves thin. With a big sigh of relief, I realised I wasn't alone!  Do all writers do this?

I have about 10 books in me so far and they're all scattered around in every direction. My goal over the next week is to focus on no more than 3 books / tasks and intend, intend, INTEND them to materialise in a way that means they last!

Here's where I start:

1. I have a bumper book of poetry to bring out containing about 70 poems that I've written over my lifetime. Whereas Little Moments Of Truth was in essence about me and who I am, this bumper book is more about poetry. My poetry. The poetry of Dianna Hardy. This is due out in December.

2. I'm most of the way through a Pagan non-fiction book about seeing fairies and elementals. This is due out in November, although it may be delayed if I decide to submit it for publication elsewhere as opposed to publishing it myself.

3. New poetry project, The Waiting Room Collective. This is due out in October (beginning of) and is connected with Magic Realms Publications, my ISBN-free self-publishing site.

There. 3 goals and aims at a time and forget all other books, they will happen in their own time! Breathe, Dianna.... breathe...

  1. I don't know if I count as a writer, but I definitely spread myself thin...or rather, there aren't enough hours in the day!

    I want to:
    a) Finish my YA story
    b) lose 7 stone
    c) complete various sporty challenges in 2011
    d) actually find loyal friends... ;-)

  2. Based on your point a) above, I would consider you a writer, yes!

And I did read your blog post. Guess the need to reduce and focus is a theme at the mo!
