Bitten Fruit Books seeking short stories to offer for free.

My indie press, Bitten Fruit Books, is looking for authors who have short stories that they're willing for people to read for free. Something I've learned over the past year, is that people love freebies, especially if it's from an author they've never heard of before, and if they love your writing, they'll buy more.

The first time I ever posted a story up for free (not just on my website, but through distribution channels), I received 400 downloads in the first week alone, and two people signed up to my newsletter. I firmly believe that a GOOD story, given away for free, can help to attract readers to you, and get you started along the road as an author. Other indie authors I know have had the same experience.

This is why I've decided to publish, through BItten Fruit Books, authors' short stories for free downloads across retail channels, using Smashwords as our publishing platform.

We'll edit your work for basic errors and design cover art for you, just as we would for any other eBook.

We also, currently, have a site on Blogger where we'll begin to house the free publications ... we'll probably create one other site for the purpose of this too, to see which will deliver the best SEO for footfall. All books will be blogged about on Bitten Fruit Book's main site when released, but we want the range to have it's own site too, where readers can go to view freebies.

So authors, I have no doubt that you all have some short stories sitting in the bottom of your closet that you've not known what to do with, because they're too short for publication -- no longer! Send them in if you think they're good! I'll look at ANY genre, and I'm looking for a balanced mix across the board to publish.
