A Little Bit About The Sands Of Time (Book Two)

Just a little update on The Sands Of Time. I've been pleasantly surprised by the good reviews, and I have to say that although I liked my own story (of course), I didn't quite know how others would take to it. One of the reasons, is that it's novella length at just over 37,000 words, and nowadays, most people are no longer used to reading novellas (incidentally, they used to be highly popular until the late seventies, as far as I can tell -- until the larger publishing companies found that novellas were too costly to produce, and steered readers towards longer works that are now considered the norm for novels).

One of the best comments I've received is that it doesn't read as a novella, in the sense that there's a hefty plot and a lot going on. That's good -- that makes me smile. But I also wanted to assure readers that, even though Book Two is focuses on Pueblo and Amy, there will still be little things going on in the background with other characters -- a little more development on Elena, a little more on Mary, etc. Try as I might, there's a chance I may not end this on Book Three (as is currently planned) -- I love these characters too much, and I want to see them grow.

Finally, there is an overall plan to keep each book under 40,000 words. This, however, is a rule I am prepared to break should the story call for a longer book. I don't word count in my head, and I prefer to let a story take its course as it should.

As usual, do let me kow if you have any thoughts or questions -- I'm loving writing these characters :)
More soon....
